British exorcist warns that atheism brings Satan into the world

LONDON (CNS) -- Atheism is becoming a key cause of demonic influence in the world, a British exorcist has warned. Father Jeremy Davies, exorcist of the Archdiocese of Westminster, which covers most of London, said that the "spirits inspiring atheism" were those who "hate God." In a new 56-page book called "Exorcism: Understanding Exorcism in Scripture and Practice," Father Davies wrote that Satan had blinded secular humanists from seeing the "dehumanizing effects of contraception and abortion and IVF (in vitro fertilization), of homosexual 'marriages,' of human cloning and the vivisection of human embryos in scientific research." The result, he said, was that Europe was drifting into a dangerous state of apostasy whereby "only (through) a genuine personal decision for Christ and the church can someone separate himself from it." In the book published by the London-based Catholic Truth Society, he said sin was the primary reason people lost their freedom to the power of the devil.

Pet Peeve 9,821

This bugs the crap out of me. Gas stations in the greater Dayton area can vary as much as $.10 a gallon(another pet peeve by the way). As a result people flock to the lowest price and people overwhelm said gas station. As many as 5 or 6 cars per gas pump get backed up all the way on to the street. So all these people probably have an extra 10 minute wait to fill up. That necessitates that they either idle as they wait(wasting gas and causing pollution not to mention wear and tear on the car) or they have to start and stop as they advance on the pump(wasting less gas but still causing pollution)

Now let's analyze this situation: On the surface $.10 a gallon less sound like a good deal, right? Let's use me as an example. The Mighty Moosemobile has a 13 gallon tank. When the fuel light comes on there is approximately 3 gallons left, that means that it will take 10 gallons to top off(thank you 6th grade math). Let's say my time is worth $.20 a minute. Factor in wear and tear, the additional hassle of dealing with a cue at the pump and I say that I'm not saving a $1.00, I'm actually loosing about $2.00! So my advice is, drive on down the next gas station even though it's $.10 higher. (plus you're not inconveniencing me as I'm trying get by your dumb ass as your blocking the street)

Who is to blame when students fail? If many students fail — a majority even — does that demonstrate faculty incompetence, or could it point to a problem with standards?

These are the questions at the center of a dispute that cost Steven D. Aird his job teaching biology at Norfolk State University. Today is his last day of work, but on his way out, he has started to tell his story — one that he suggests points to large educational problems at the university and in society. The university isn’t talking publicly about his case, but because Aird has released numerous documents prepared by the university about his performance — including the key negative tenure decisions by administrators — it is clear that he was denied tenure for one reason: failing too many students. The university documents portray Aird as unwilling to compromise to pass more students.

A subtext of the discussion is that Norfolk State is a historically black university with a mission that includes educating many students from disadvantaged backgrounds. The university suggests that Aird — who is white — has failed to embrace the mission of educating those who aren’t well prepared. But Aird — who had backing from his department and has some very loyal students as well — maintains that the university is hurting the very students it says it wants to help. Aird believes most of his students could succeed, but have no incentive to work as hard as they need to when the administration makes clear they can pass regardless.
